Why do we love people who we have never been with but can never stop thinking of?
In my instance, I have known Adrian longer than any of his current friends (considering that his friends before me went to PBC and lost contact) and I've come to know his ways. I love him because of his personality. I value personalities the most and his is perfect for someone like me. I never used to like Adrian, but I always liked his personality alone. Over time I have come to love him, and it seems he is feeling the same way, except his love is a "friend" love. We love people in hopes of finding love in return, even though in some cases, we never do. That's why there's such a thing as "moving on".
Whats the point of thinking of them continually knowing theres no way you can be togeher?
Our minds aren't going to thrive on boring day to day rituals. We have to have some way to keep us entertained while also keeping to ourselves. TV and Internet cannot satisfy those wishes, so we simply dream that that one person will come to terms with us. In the end, we become that much closer to that person, usually. It's because when we think of that person, we become much more comfortable around them.
Why do we check to see if they message/call/im us even though we know theyre not gonna?
This kinda falls into the same category of the previous question. We have to keep ourselves entertained, and while we are thinking of that person, it becomes stuck in our heads that he/she truly cares about us so we constantly check to see if they've left us something. There are times when that does happen, but others are just a figment of our imaginations...keeping us entertained.
Whats the point of loving someone so much it hurts?
Now this relates to the first question. There really is no point in doing so. It just happens quite naturally, and if we get it out of the "crush" stage then it only gets harder. There are sometimes when we can keep it in the "crush" stage and knock it out of our system. Let's say that the person you love is an extremely close friend, especially in the case of Adrian and I. If you didn't have that person, what would you be like? Would you be lackluster and nonchalant to everything? You wouldn't want that.
Why is it that we go out of our way just to see them? Hear them?
It ususally puts us in a good mood when we're able to see them and hear them. Especially when they are acknowledging us. So sometimes we may need that extra pick-me-up and we take an alternate route (let's say at school) to class because we know we'll pass them. When we see them, it almost always puts a smile on our face and keeps us joyful for at least an extra minute -- and that's all we really need.
Why do we put so much time and effort into relationships, that may not even have a future?
We always hope that the other person will end up resulting in liking us back, so we try our hardest to make them. We put the effort in and they watch us and come to love us in return. Though sometimes it doesn't always work that way, and we go back to the "moving on" stage, which is quite difficult. We also can become close with the other person when we try to build a relationship. We will always be close with that person, and even though that's as far as it'd go, it'd still be strong.
How can just the thought of someone drive you crazy? The smell of them? The sight? This goes back to the one before the last one. It puts us in a good mood for the moment and we coninue thinking about the person so it keeps us happy.
Why do we let people we love get hurt by people who dont love them?
Of course we always want that person to come to us, so we always hope their relationships fail and they will go to us. It hurts to see them get hurt, but sometimes they will go to us for comfort. In the case of Adrian and I, I actually helped him with his relationships with a close friend of mine, and even though it faltered, he talked to me more than ever.
